LLPOA President's Report

Fall 2010

Dear Friends, My name is Nancy Pagel and I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself as the new President of the Legend Lake Property Owners Association. I have been a property owner on Legend Lake for ten years and am starting my second term as a Board Member. I welcome the challenge of presiding over this Board and look forward to working with you to solve the many issues we face this year.

Before I get into what lies ahead of us as a Board and a lake, I would like to sincerely thank Steve Vanden Heuvel for his great leadership as President these past two years. Thankfully, Steve will remain a Board Member and will continue to provide great support to our team. Also, Renee Towne has decided not to run for re-election after many years of service. Renee has been our resident expert on forestry and most recently held the office of Secretary. Thank you, Renee, for your continued devotion to the Lake and all its inhabitants. We’ll Miss You!!

I would also like to welcome our newest Board Member, Steve Foley, to the team! Steve is a great addition to the Board and is in charge of new Board Member nominations. So if you are interested in running for a seat on the Board next spring, please contact Steve.

There are a few items of note that the Board is focusing on in the next several months. First and foremost, we are working with the DNR and private entities to find a managed approach for the Gypsy Moth issue. The Board met with Jeremy Johnson of the DNR to understand what our options are. Doing a blanket air spray via a private contractor is simply not an option for various reasons; however, we won’t stop there. Board Member Dan Hedrich has agreed to work with Jeremy Johnson to put together a game plan on this issue. They will be looking at managing the issue within the DNR guidelines and procedures as well as possible private enterprise intervention. Check the Legend Lake website legendlake.info for more on this.

We will also continue to work on solving the problem regarding unpaid dues to the Association, an issue that we must manage more effectively. Because we understand that it is unfair to the portion of the population that consistently pays their dues, we are currently in the process of exploring legal avenues to resolve the problem.

By the time you receive this edition of Smoke Signals Along The Lake we will be in the late stages of summer and preparing for the onset of autumn. I hope you have had as much fun enjoying the lake this summer as I did. Fall brings its own unique beauty; the changing of colors, the crisp air and the calm of the water.

As always, we encourage you to get involved! Feel free to stop by any monthly Board Meeting. They are held the second Friday of every month at 3:00pm. Thank you,

Nancy Pagel
President
Legend Lake Property Owners Association
