Tall Moon Beach Club gets Facelift Posted on Nov 12th, 2010
The maintenance crew has completed work for the year on upgrades to the Tall Moon Beach Club. In cooperation with Menominee County, the work of restoring the shoreline included the planting of native grasses, sedges and “live stakes”. Live staking is the placement of woody plant and tree cuttings on a graded bank to grow and stabilize the bank by the formation of roots and above-ground brush. It will take at least a year to see the results of the project.
This restoration was made necessary by illegal ATV traffic that destroyed part of the shoreline and carved deep ruts into the landscape. A split rail fence, similar to other Beach Clubs, was also installed, to discourage the ATV traffic. The Tall Moon Beach Club serves 53 off-shore lots.
