  • Burning Permits - Do I need to get a burning permit every time I want a campfire?
No. Campfires built for warmth do not require a permit. Fires to burn debris do. In either case, good practices and common sense must prevail. See the Member Services Section for links and more information.
  • Burning Permits - Do I still need a burning permit now that it is late Fall?
Yes! Burning permits are obtained from the staff at the Lodge and are ANNUAL. You are also responsible for checking conditions for our County on the DNR website. Permits are needed until 100% of the ground is snow covered.

  • Camping – When does my camping trailer need to be removed?
All campers must be removed by October 15th. After that date, camping is allowed but you must bring all equipment with you and take it all home after each visit.

  • Dams - I keep hearing about our dams. Where are they?
Dam # 1 is next to the Lodge. Dam # 3 is located on the east end of the Pyawasit basin. You may not recognize it, but you are driving over it when you take Long Lake Road into the Legend Lake Area.
  • Do I still need to go Slow-No-Wake after the buoys have been removed from the lake?
    Yes! Yes and YES!

  • Garbage - When is garbage pick-up and what do I need to do?
Garbage and recycling day is every Tuesday unless a major holiday occurs. Holidays are normally picked up the next day. Garbage must be placed at the road edge and must be in clear bags. Recycling is placed alongside garbage and must be in clear or blue bags. See the Member Services tab on the home page for more info.
  • Gypsy Moths - I thought we sprayed for Gypsy Moths. Why am I seeing caterpillar webs all over some trees?
The webs you are seeing are not from Gypsy Moths, they are
Eastern Tent Caterpillars. These are native to our forests and are cyclical in nature. That is, they are plentiful in some years and absent in others. They prefer to nest on fruit trees and while they can defoliate a tree, they are generally harmless. Our experts recommend doing nothing unless they are defoliating a tree in your yard. There are two easy ways to get rid of them. First, if they are near the end of a branch, just clip off the web and dispose of it. Second, you can break apart the web and spray the caterpillars with insecticide.

  • How long will the compost site be open?
The last date for 2010 is November 13th.

  • LLP&RD - What is the LLP&RD and how is it different from the Property Owners Association?
In short terms, the LLP&RD is responsible for the water while the LLPOA is responsible for the land. The LLPOA is a homeowners group: The LLP&RD is a part of the Menominee County Government.

  • Low Water Level - Why do we keep opening the dam and creating low water levels in the Summer?
We dont! The water level is almost never lowered manually and the dam spillways are only operated to insure their functionality. The low water levels experienced in recent years are caused by lack of rain/snow and excessive evaporation.
  • Yard Waste - Is there a place that I can take my leaves and twigs?
Yes. The LLPOA provides a Compost Site. Not only can you dump your yard waste but you can pick up free black dirt and wood chip mulch. See the Compost Site details on the Member Services tab of the main page.
